general questions
-
Wake Youth Camp is hosted and organized by Wake Church and directed by Phill Conchola (WYC Director). The camp is presented by Texas Ministries, whose partnership helps support and expand the vision of WYC. Wake Youth Camp is a collaborative movement, built alongside partnering churches, with Wake Church serving as the primary host and organizer.
-
Camp is open to all students entering 7th grade this fall (2026) through the Class of 2026.
-
While we strongly encourage campers to meet the aforementioned age guidelines, we leave the decision on whether or not an incoming 6th grade student can attend with that child’s parents and church leadership.
-
This year, Wake Youth Camp will offer two identical camp sessions. Session 1 is June 5 - 9. Session 2 is June 9 - 13.
-
Both sessions of Youth Camp will be held at Boxwoods at Camp Cho-Yeh in Livingston, TX and will offer the same camp experience.
-
If your church has attended camp with us in the past, Phill Conchola has already communicated which session your church is encouraged to attend. If you are new to Wake Youth Camp, you are welcome to choose either session.
-
No. While Wake Youth Camp is an unapologetically Christian experience, we welcome students from all backgrounds to join us.
-
Yes. We ask that all adults serving at camp be professing Christians.
-
Questions regarding camp programming should be directed to Phill Conchola. Questions regarding registration, payment, medical and/or dietary concerns, and other logistics should be directed to Chelsea Haines, Texas Ministries Administrative Services Manager.
-
Stay in the know by joining our GroupMe, following us on Instagram (@_wakeyouthcamp), and attending our virtual Learning Community gatherings on February 5, March 19, April 23, May 7, and May 28. (All gatherings are Thursdays at 1 p.m. CST on Zoom.)
registration questions
-
Completing the Youth Camp 2026 Interest Form does not lock in your registration. It is simply an interest form to help us gauge participation from churches. After submitting, you will be contacted with next steps for official registration.
-
Early Bird registration opens for students and leaders on January 23. Rec Staff registration opens. January 30. Standard registration for students and leaders opens March 21.
-
Early Bird registration closes March 20. Standard registration closes one week before each camp begins (May 30 for Session 1, June 3 for Session 2.)
-
In order for us to best prepare for camp, we need to hold to our registration deadlines and cannot guarantee the ability to register students once that date passes.
-
In the event a camp session hits capacity, we will create a Waiting List. Students will be admitted into camp as spots become available in the order they were placed on each gender-specific Waiting List.
payment questions
-
The cost of Wake Youth Camp is $425 per student for Cutoff 1 (March 20) and $455 per student for Cutoff 2 (May 1). This rate applies to all students (Grades 7th - 12th), while leader pricing will remain at a discounted rate of $415 throughout registration.

Students and leaders have the opportunity to purchase additional camp swag (tees, hoodies, hats) as well as snacks/beverages from Supply Co. while at Boxwoods. Students and leaders should bring additional spending money (cash or card) if they wish to buy these items.
-
Student camp registration is discounted as long as students register by March 20. Anyone in need of financial assistance for camp should speak directly to their church’s camp point person. While we cannot make any promises of scholarships/discounts, churches in need of further financial assistance should contact Phill Conchola.
-
In order to keep payment streamlined, we ask for students and leaders to pay their churches directly, then for churches to make the payment to us for camp. This payment is divided into an initial 50% deposit and a final payment.
-
To secure your church’s place at camp, a 50% deposit is required and must be fully received by your selected cutoff date. Deposits may be paid by check or online. Online deposit payments will incur a 3% credit card processing fee. Deposits may be submitted in multiple payments, but the full 50% deposit must be paid in full by the cutoff date to secure pricing and placement.

Camp always has options available for gluten-free, vegetarian, and lactose-intolerant participants. We will do our best to accommodate them and will reach out if we have any questions or are unable to meet a need.
-
Per Camp Cho-Yeh: “While safety is one of Cho-Yeh’s values, we want parents to know that there is always an inherent risk to being at Camp. We work hard to mitigate risk, but we believe that risk is an essential component of personal growth. At Cho-Yeh, we take calculated risks with providing activities outside of your child’s usual comfort zone to help grow them as individuals but we do not take risks when it comes to your child’s well-being. As an ACA accredited camp, we work within the standards set by the American Camp Association to make sure our safety standards and practices are the best that they can be. The health and welfare of our camp community is our top concern.”
-
At Boxwoods, 25 shipping containers have been converted into air-conditioned cabins. The cabins feature spacious decks and gorgeous views of Lake Livingston. Students and leaders are divided into cabin by gender (sex assigned at birth).
-
Churches who do not fill up an entire cabin will room together. We will provide you with this information in advance.
-
Chelsea Haines from Texas Ministries will work alongside each church’s point person to make cabinet assignments.
-
Every church at Youth Camp is assigned a color (or two, depending on group size) that they’re encouraged to wear throughout the week. In addition, they’ll be divided into teams based on these colors and compete in different recreation activities.
-
Team Colors will be released on May 20th.
-
When it comes to dress for Youth Camp, we adhere to these three words: cool, comfortable, and modest. We ask you to avoid tight or revealing clothing. Shorts should be a modest length (at least mid-thigh). Shirt straps should be at least three fingers wide. No Speedos or midriff-baring swimsuits. If a camper has a two-piece swimsuit that exposes the midriff, a dark t-shirt should be worn over the top. Clothing that promotes alcohol, cigarettes, or other inappropriate content is prohibited. Clothing with inappropriate language (questionable sayings, slogans, curse words, etc.) is also prohibited. We expect each church to take responsibility for ensuring their group adheres to the dress code.
-
Boxwoods offers tons of great activities like banana boats, tubing, swimming, volleyball, archery, basketball, ping pong, cornhole, and more.
-
Per Cho-Yeh, “There are always a minimum of 2 lifeguards on duty when kids are in the water. The number of lifeguards increases with the number of kids in the water. Campers take a swim test in the pool on their first day and they will be given a band according to their ability: Blue-strong swimmer, Red-weak swimmer, Green-non-swimmer who will also be required to wear a life jacket while in the water (pool and lake). Life jackets are required in the lake for ALL ages, regardless of ability.
-
Lost and found items are always placed in the back of the Hanger while at camp. It is important for students to grab all lost and found items prior to their departure of the camp. All items not retrieved are donated after camp.
-
Per Camp Cho-Yeh: “If the rain is light and steady, and there is no risk of lightning, campers will still be able to walk to the activities and programs planned for the day. Our full-time staff monitor the weather at all times and check to make sure lightning and heavy rain is outside of the set range around camp. If lightning does happen to come within the designated range, then we will make sure all the campers and staff are safe inside a building. We will then proceed with pre-planned activities that are in place in the occasion of needing to be indoors.”
leader + rec staff questions
-
Leaders and Rec Staff must be legal adults (18+).
-
A camp leader is an adult who attends camp with their church and is responsible for directly overseeing and caring for their students throughout the week. Leaders stay in the same rooms as their students, help maintain safety and structure, and provide consistent presence both day and night. They lead small-group discussions, walk students through spiritual conversations, and help reinforce what is taught in services. Leaders also participate in camp games alongside their students, representing their assigned team color and helping build unity and enthusiasm. Camp leaders do not apply through Wake Youth Camp, as each church selects and brings the leaders they feel are best suited to shepherd their students.
A Rec Staff Member serves as part of the Wake Youth Camp operations team and helps make the entire camp experience run smoothly behind the scenes. Rec Staff members lead and manage camp games, assist with setup and teardown of activities, and support various operational areas such as production, merchandise sales, and programmed events. They stay in separate sleeping quarters from students and are not assigned to oversee a specific church group. Rec Staff members apply in advance and are selected through an application process, with not all applicants being accepted. Those selected come independently of their church and commit to serving for the full duration of both Week 1 and Week 2 of camp.
-
You need to provide one leader for every five students. You also need to provide male leaders for your male students and female leaders for your female students.
-
Camp leaders are vetted by the church group they come to camp with. They are required to submit a background check and complete child safety and protection training. Rec Staff also completed a background check and is trained by Wake Youth Camp leadership.
-
We are unable to accommodate the children of camp leaders at Youth Camp.
-
Per Cho-Yeh, “We take a great deal of pride in the selection of our staff. Prospective counselors go through a comprehensive application process which includes a background check, an intensive application, references, and a personal interview with one of the camp staff. An extensive training program is provided at the start of the summer season. Staff members are trained on topics such as child development, how to recognize, prevent, and take action against bullying, behavior management, risk management, emergency procedures, Bible Study, and much more. During the summer, staff are supervised and evaluated by members of our camp leadership team and full-time staff.”

-
Wake Youth Camp provides a camp nurse. The camp nurse administers all medication and provides care to injured or ill students and leaders during camp.
-
Campers and staff are not allowed to keep any medications in their cabins. Please be sure to check in all medications when you arrive at camp.
-
Yes, the nurse’s station has a refrigerator available.
-
Each student’s parent/guardian will give permission for the kinds of over-the-counter medications and treatment they can receive at camp. Leaders will sign a similar waiver.
-
Yes, Boxwoods at Camp Cho-Yeh offers some handicap accessibility. Please let us know your specific needs when you register.
cancellation questions
-
If a student or leader is unable to attend camp, churches may adjust their roster through May 1. Up to this date, any unused registration amount may be applied toward another student or leader, or rolled into the church’s remaining camp balance, resulting in a reduced final payment. May 1 is the final day to make roster reductions that fall below the original deposit amount. After May 1, roster reductions are no longer available, as camp numbers and payments are finalized with our camp facility.
-
Yes. Transfers between students or leaders are allowed through May 1, as long as roster adjustments are submitted by that date. After May 1, transfers are only permitted between the same gender and classification (female student to female student, male leader to male leader, etc.). After May 1, rosters may no longer be reduced; however, additional students or leaders may still be added if space is available and registration remains open. Any additions after May 1 will be added to the final balance due.
